Your advice is appreciated. No Chinese jokes please, already had to eat my dog for breakfast because food got so expensive. PhireSide Executive Member.

Also you can probably try disconnect the battery negative cable and press on the brake pedal to discharge any current in the electrical system. Reconnect when done. This should clear any fault codes or hiccups in the ECU that could be shutting off power to the EPS system But definitely check the related fuse first to see if it isn't something simple.

That is, there is no hydraulic power steering pump that is driven by the engine drive belt. No fluid to build pressure to operate the rack and pinion. No power assist of any kind from fluid. There is not fluid reservoir to check and fill, and thus no chance of it ever having a fluid leak. Conventional power steering uses a belt driven pump to direct high pressure to the rack and pinion or gearbox. The force you put on the steering wheel is enhanced by this pressure to allow for easy turning of the wheel, even when the vehicle is not moving.

When the vehicle is moving, it is easier to steer, even without any power assist from hydraulics or an electric motor.

All of the power assist for the electronic steering is generated by an electric motor. This motor is under the dash on most vehicles.

It connects the steering wheel and column to what is called the intermediate steering shaft. This shaft is driven by the electric steering motor, then sends steering assist to the rack and pinion.

This is all controlled by a module or computer. Here is a pic of a typical steering motor…. General Motors had a few problems in this new system a few years ago.

What would happen is that your car would loose power assist. Your car would not lose steering, just the power assist portion. So that would make the steering wheel hard to turn. Similar to what happens if you ever had a belt break or had very low fluid on your vehicle in the past. Many people complained they lost steering, could not turn the car, and almost crashed. I do understand that a sudden loss of power assist can be very disconcerting, but you do still have control of your vehicle.

You just need to use a little more effort to turn it. There has been a lot of chatter on the web about this problem. Many forum posts have people talking about how they fixed it by replacing the fuse. Well, if the fuse was not blown, then replacing it would do nothing to help and did not fix the problem except for a short time.

Removing the fuse basically takes power away from the control module. This has the effect of resetting the system. Just as if you unplug your computer, then turn it back on. The steering problem will just return soon enough. There have been problems with the system in other cars as well. This is actually a common thing to happen as a new technology enters the market and gets real life testing from the consumer.Forgot password?

Results 1 to 5 of 5. Less than 48 hours after getting the car back, I lost engine power while doing some spirited driving on the highway.

I didn't lose battery power but the engine wouldn't turn over. Everything would power on as normal when turning the key, but pressing the start button did not cause the starter to turn over at all. So I towed the car back to the same shop that replaced the power steering pump. The shop found that my ASD fuse had blown but couldn't narrow down the cause. They supposedly traced through all of the wiring on that circuit including the wires to the rear O2 sensors which I've read is a potential culprit but couldn't find any issues with the wiring.

They gave me the car back with a few extra 20 amp fuses and sent me on my way. I made it about halfway home before the car died again. So I hopped out in traffic and threw in a new ASD fuse which bought me about 50 ft before blowing again. With the car off and keys out but battery power not disconnected I attempted to replace the fuse again.

The new fuse blew immediately when I put it in. So I towed the car home and scheduled service with a certified Viper tech at Woodhouse. I'll be towing it there in a week to have more qualified mechanic look things over. I would like to know if anybody has had experience with a blown ASD fuse, specifically related to a power steering pump. I'd really like to be able to trust the shop I took it to originally, but it seems very odd that my car is having seemingly unrelated electrical issues after being in their shop for 2 weeks.

I recently had a new catalytic converter put on the passenger side. Any recommendations or insight as to what could be causing the blown ASD fuse would be greatly appreciated. Update for anybody who might be having this issue and finds this post: I towed the car to Woodhouse about an hour away the towing bill was more than the repair and their Viper tech took a look at it. The problem turned out to be the PCM cable.

My new metal braided power steering lines had rubbed through the PCM cable.

Easy fix. Fortunately the shop that installed the new power steering pump agreed to compensate me for the tow and repair bills without any hassle. Admittedly, this problem seemed to be more of a one time surprise rather than a repetitive situation.

The first time that I received such a call which was more like "S. He was stranded at his hotel with a "no go" on the start button. After swapping the ASD fuse with the adjacent lighter fuse, the man went happily along his way. In a few cases, I believe some folks went to a 25 amp fuse for ASD When it comes to leaking power steering fluid, in certain cases you can continue to drive until you can repair the leak and replace the fluid, but you need to pay close attention.

There are several reasons for this: A small leak rarely stays a small leak. Your power steering fluid is obviously not meant to leak. That means if there is a leak, you have the beginning of a problem.

Hive remove character from string

A few drops of power steering fluid on the ground are not a reason to panic, but know that once a leak starts, it almost always gets worse over time.

When your leak is due to a small crack in a hose, for example, if the crack gets bigger, you can quickly lose all your fluid in a short time. A loss of power steering fluid affects the drivability of your vehicle.

How to Fix Power Steering Noise When Turning

When your power steering fluid leaks out, your power steering rack will not function properly and steering effort is greatly increased. This is especially pronounced at low speeds and can make steering extremely difficult. Driving your car for extended periods without power steering fluid can damage the pump. This causes increased friction and heat and can quickly cause expensive damage.

If you need to drive your car with no power steering fluid, try to avoid extreme turns to the left or right, and replace your fluid as soon as possible. Subscribe to updates. Subscribe for the Best Product Info and Deals! All rights reserved. Generic selectors.

The Titans are dead-locked with the Jaguars for the AFC South lead and face a tough two game road trip in the Pacific Northwest, facing the Cardinals this week and then at San Francisco. Note though that the Titans have excelled in this spot for bettors, going 6-3 ATS in their last nine non-conference games and and 2-1 ATS in their last three as a road favorite of three points or less.

Conversely, this is a spot in which Arizona has struggled, going just 4-9 ATS in its last 13 as an underdog and only 4-14 ATS in its last 18 against teams with winning records. Consider laying the points on the red hot Titans. McAdoo and Reece are gone and Eli is back but that doesn't affect the product the Giants put on the field which at this point is pretty poor.
